St. Jude House joins with the community to support and remember all victims of domestic violence.

Crown Point, September 2017: St. Jude House is preparing to hold their 22nd annual Candlelight Vigil

The Candlelight Vigil is an annual event dedicated to remembering all victims of domestic violence. The vigil gives the community an opportunity to come together. The vigil begins with a silent march to honor all victims whose lives have been taken. A candle will be lit in their memory. Immediately following the march will be a service including an inspiring testimony from a survivor who thankfully overcame their abuse with the help of local domestic violence organizations. In addition listen to a few inspiring remarks from community leaders and St. Jude House Executive Director Linda Perez.

Every year St. Jude House kicks off Domestic Violence Awareness Month by offering an opportunity to mourn, celebrate, and connect with advocates from national, state, community based organizations, law enforcement, governmental agencies, allied movements, survivors and their family and friends. This is a great opportunity for community members to partner with St. Jude House and be a part of the movement to end violence. Supporting St. Jude House through this heartwarming event spreads awareness and brings light to the impact domestic violence has on individuals and communities. “Sadly hundreds of people pass away every year due to intimate partner violence. This event is heartfelt and impactful as we remember all those lost in Indiana over the last year as a result of this senseless crime. ” says Linda Perez, Executive Director of St. Jude House.

The vigil will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Crown Point square. The St. Jude House Team and Partners will gather at 5:00pm, followed by the silent march around the square at 6:30pm, and the vigil service at 6:45pm. Attendees, who enjoy dinner at one of the participating restaurants on the square, including Safe House Bar & Grill, will also receive a 15% discount on their meal.
